Escape to Eden: Discover Babylonstoren’s Luxurious Farm Stay

Introduction

Babylonstoren is a historic Cape Dutch farm nestled in South Africa’s scenic Cape Winelands, offering an exceptional fusion of nature, history, and modern luxury. Established in 1692, the farm boasts meticulously preserved architecture, including the Manor House from 1777.

Renowned for its expansive, formally designed garden with 15 sections, Babylonstoren captures the essence of simplicity and connection to the earth. Visitors can explore lush fruit orchards, water canals, and vibrant floral landscapes.

Since opening to the public in 2010 under the vision of owner Karen Roos, Babylonstoren has become a haven for those seeking wellness, fine dining, and a serene connection with nature.

Wellness Options:

Babylonstoren offers a comprehensive wellness experience through its luxurious Garden Spa, designed to harmonize body and mind. The spa features signature treatments such as the private hammam water ritual and the Babylonstoren honey and salt scrub.

Guests can also indulge in deep-tissue bamboo massages and detoxifying Rasul mud therapies. The spa’s hot spa area includes a hammam, salt room, sauna, and heated vitality pools, complemented by an indoor-outdoor swimming pool. Babylonstoren’s Healing Garden, inspired by traditional African herbal practices, offers herbs and plants designed to soothe various parts of the body.

Daily guided yoga, Pilates, and breathwork sessions further enhance the wellness offerings, allowing visitors to relax amidst the tranquil, botanical setting.

Food

Babylonstoren’s culinary philosophy centers on a “farm-to-fork” ethos, with menus guided by the seasonal bounty of its gardens. Babel, the signature restaurant housed in a converted cowshed, serves creative dishes emphasizing simplicity and freshness.

From water buffalo yoghurt breakfasts to vibrant, garden-fresh salads and mains featuring locally sourced proteins, every meal highlights the farm’s produce. The Greenhouse Restaurant offers laid-back meals under oak trees, serving artisanal breads, cheeses, and classic South African boerie rolls. For a more immersive experience, the Old Bakery hosts Italian-inspired feasts and lively Carnivore Evenings.

Complementing the food experience are Babylonstoren’s own wines and fresh juices, completing the journey of taste and sustainability.
