Julius – so nice to see you, I think last time we talked, you have been at Lake Como or Cinque Terre and had plans to come back to Los Angeles  – thank you for your time in your busy schedule

How do you manage to stay grounded amidst the hectic schedule of running a successful skincare line and traveling worldwide to meet clients?

JULIUS

Well, I’m in the lucky position that I have good people,  which takes a long time to find, but  I have people that worked with me for 10 years and it’s basically like making decisions in the background. That gives me quite a nice space to do my meditation, do my chanting work. And I mean,  the whole thing is a labor of love. So for me, like talking about “work”  – the word is not really in my system. The whole creation is a natural outflow.

POH- FRANK

Perhaps you could delve a bit into your grounding tools or rituals. You mentioned meditation and chanting. Could you elaborate on those?

JULIUS

I use incense; I mix my own blends, often with copal . However, I go with what feels right, whether it’s eucalyptus or whatever resonates with me at the moment. I’m very much in the moment, and I do that every day, sometimes every other day depending on how I feel. I try to sit still for a certain amount of time each day, sometimes it’s five minutes, sometimes it’s 50 minutes. I’ve learned over time not to judge myself, just to go with the flow. If I impose too rigid a discipline, it doesn’t work for me; my mind and brain resist. But if I allow it to flow and remain at ease, it’s better.

I don’t think, ‘Oh, today it was 10 minutes,’ or ‘Wow, it was 50 minutes.’ So it’s kind of a ritual, but it’s not constrained by time frames.

POH- FRANK

Do you believe there is a growing awareness among people regarding the importance of holistic healing and self-care?

JULIUS

Yeah, when you look at the world, it’s really quite divided. You have what I call the light workers, the people drawn to the light, and then there’s the darker side of humanity. We coexist with both, but at some point, we have to make an inner decision about where we want to align ourselves.

Many people strive to feel better, to gravitate towards the light. It’s almost as if by doing so, you naturally attract the right people—what some refer to as the law of attraction in action. These times really emphasize the understanding that we are spiritual beings navigating a human experience, which can often be harsh.

So, it’s important to take action to improve how you feel. Chanting, for instance, the vibrations you emit with your voice, it’s like you’re not just putting it out there; you’re also tuning your entire being. That’s why there are so many paths available, and I always encourage finding the one that resonates with you.

Currently, there seems to be a surge in focus on Jesus, which is great, but I also appreciate Buddha. I believe there are numerous paths, but it’s crucial to be wary of those that claim theirs is the only way. This kind of thinking has historically led to religious conflicts and wars.

Discover your own path, experiment with different practices. Personally, I’ve found great solace in Kundalini Yoga, practicing it for about 11 or 12 years in LA with some exceptional teachers. It’s helped me maintain flexibility and mental freshness. Just like building muscle at the gym, these practices require dedication, but the benefits are profound.

POH- FRANK

Since you are originally from  Germany, known for its holistic approach to health, how do you perceive the differences in attitudes towards wellness between Germany/ Europe  and places in the USA let say  Los Angeles?

JULIUS

There is a very different approach. I mean, in LA it’s basically in the air you breathe. It’s so obvious, which is why it’s called the “City of Angels”. In Germany, we have a tradition, especially in areas like homeopathy and various plant sciences. It originated and was quite popular in Germany, although it’s been somewhat forgotten.

Now, it’s making a comeback, with people exploring alternative healing systems. I always believe you need both. You need Western medicine in emergencies, like when you have an accident and you’re bleeding on the street; you don’t need homeopathy. But for other conditions, it’s like tapping into your inner healer. Essentially, what you’re doing is activating your inner healer, and there are about ten different ways to do it. You have to find what works for you.

So, back to your question, I think in LA, there’s an abundance of yoga classes, more than you can count, really. It’s more obvious and accessible here, but not as readily apparent elsewhere.

POH – FRANK

Can you explain the philosophy behind the alchemical principles that inspire your skincare products?

JULIUS

To be honest with you, it’s one of the most intricate production methods on the planet, but we simplify it using very basic terms. Essentially, we employ highly complex processes because we eliminate specific allergens. Unlike others, we don’t merely use Aloe Vera; we might only extract the roots of the Aloe Vera plant. It’s incredibly precise and all rooted in the teachings of Paracelsus, the renowned alchemist. Our approach is vibrational; even the treatment of plants is meticulously controlled.

For instance, when harvesting certain flowers like calendula, we must do so before sunrise to capture the plant’s essence fully. We also time the extraction of oils to coincide with the peak season for maximum potency. These are stringent protocols rooted in alchemy. We preheat all products to 30-37.5°C, aligning them with your body’s temperature for optimal absorption. This approach transforms skincare into cellular nutrition, akin to cooking a nourishing soup that your organs crave. Consequently, skin cells plump up, yielding a radiant, fresh appearance for our users. It’s not magic; it’s the result of precise botanical combinations.

Regarding our sourcing, we’ve partnered with specific vendors for many years. We work with medicinal herb gardens in the Italian Alps , which exist since over 120 years. These gardens are located near Bergamo, close to the Alps, with water sourced from glaciers, ensuring high mineral content and purity. There’s no use of fertilizers or insecticides, guaranteeing pristine ingredients for our products.

Was starting your own skincare line something you’ve always been interested in, or was it more of a newfound passion? Did you hear about it and feel drawn to it, or was there something in your background that sparked the decision to make that change?

JULIUS

I started in 2002 with two products. And so over the years, we added on whatever made sense, never driven by marketing. We found a great formula or we have certain plants in the garden we want to use. And so everything really is grown totally organic.

It took me seven years to make the first money. I always say it’s just a fantasy of the moment. It has no real value. Yeah, but a lot of mathematical people, they always want to see business plans, how many people do we need etc.  I was convinced we need a luxurious product in the purest form, in a very organic form. And it didn’t exist in 2002. Every organic product was like ugly packaging, very oily. We have the most refined textures, but we use ancient old technology .So we don’t come from a cosmetic background. We come from pharmaceuticals.

I thought, “Oh my God, all these products are so polluted. There’s so much unnecessary stuff in them.” We always say, “If you can eat it, you can put it in the product. If you can’t eat it, it shouldn’t be in the mix,” because everything is absorbed by your body. But honestly, all the inspiration, everything comes through me, though it’s not from me.

Sometimes I wake up in the night and feel compelled to do something – maybe you can call it  divinely inspired, or however you want to phrase it, and then I’m just the vehicle to turn it into reality.

POH FRANK

How do you envision the future of the wellness and holistic beauty industry, and what role do you see your brand playing in it? Since there seems a trend of more holistic wellness brands – but can you mass produce them?

JULIUS

We have the capacity to scale up. It won’t become a mass-produced product, but we recently expanded for a significant project. What I often notice, to be completely honest, is the abundance of stunning locations adorned with marble, glitter, and other lavish elements. While the hardware, the physical spaces, are exceptional, the software, meaning the products they utilize, often lack purity. I find myself amused by industry brands now aspiring to adopt green practices and such, which often feels superficial. However, given their substantial financial resources, they erect spas in various locations.

Despite being a  niche player, I’m immensely pleased with the spas we collaborate with; they consistently deliver phenomenal results, that much I can affirm.

POH FRANK

How do you approach the challenge of educating consumers about the holistic principles behind your skincare products in a market often dominated by mainstream beauty trends?

JULIUS

The big names are suddenly rolling out green products, and you wonder, how can you compete without their marketing budget? Over the years, I’ve adopted the mindset that whoever finds us is the right partner.

As a result, we’ve cultivated incredible relationships that endure. It’s really a manifestation of the law of attraction. If the consciousness isn’t aligned, then it’s not the right fit for us. There have been instances where people have approached us, claiming we’re trendy, and I find myself rolling my eyes.

Ultimately, I’ve learned to discern whether we’re a good match, and I’m now able to walk away if it doesn’t feel right. Initially, I may not have had that luxury, but now we have the freedom to choose who we collaborate with. I can often foresee how things will unfold, and more often than not, we’re presented with the right people.

POH FRANK

Nowadays, everyone is venturing into creating their own brand. It’s quite apparent that for many social media influencers/celebrities, their initial goal is to establish their own cosmetic line or, at the very least, a makeup line, among other ventures. What’s your take on that ?

JULIUS

I mean, I haven’t started singing; I should start singing and acting and this and that, I don’t know. So their focus is like, “how much more money can I make?” And I, I’m coming from a completely different perspective. I’m glad and happy to make some money now, but it’s a very organic process for me. However, I find it almost amusing that people fall for that.

These brands lack real value. They’re already prepared, already made. They simply slap their names on them or say, “Oh, I like the smell of roses,” and add some rose essence. But it’s not genuine development; there’s nothing truly unique about it.

POH FRANK

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking to enter the wellness and holistic beauty industry?

JULIUS

Well, I always say, you know, be true to your heart, follow your heart, and the money will follow. If you go the other way, you’ll probably get sick and experience other issues. So just be true to yourself, and remember, making mistakes is important; just be gentle with yourself.

But if you stay true to your path, everything will fall into place. It requires a lot of patience and trial and error. But if you have a clear vision and your heart is aligned with it, you’ll eventually achieve what’s called success.

POH FRANK

Thank you Julius for your time – enjoy the beautiful island of Sylt – and take lots of walk with Bodhi
