Introduction

Landet Stay is a collection of architecturally designed luxury cabins set within a 400-hectare private nature reserve in the Swedish countryside, approximately one hour south of Stockholm near the historic town of Trosa. The name “Landet” translates to “the countryside” in Swedish — a concept carrying deep cultural resonance, evoking the tradition of retreating to a personal sanctuary outside the city to reconnect with nature and simplicity.

Founded by Ted and Umberto, Landet was born from a desire to offer the peace of rural life without the burdens of ownership, marrying high design with genuine respect for the natural environment. The property occupies its own pristine reserve — a rare offering ensuring complete privacy and immersion in untouched Scandinavian wilderness.

Designed by leading Scandinavian architect Andreas Martin-Löf with interiors by British designer Tobias Vernon, every cabin is a masterpiece of sustainable craftsmanship: built on 100% recyclable plinths, constructed from responsibly sourced Scandinavian timber and recycled glass, and engineered to be fully removable under a strict “Leave No Trace” philosophy.

Wellness Options:

Landet Stay’s wellness offering is rooted in the restorative power of Scandinavian nature itself, complemented by a curated network of local practitioners. The property partners with local therapists, yoga instructors, and wellness specialists who deliver on-site experiences including yoga sessions held beneath century-old oak trees, guided forest meditation, and therapeutic massage.

A signature wood-fired sauna — a cornerstone of Scandinavian wellness culture — provides a deeply detoxifying and calming ritual. The surrounding 400-hectare reserve extends the wellness offer into nature itself: forest bathing, sound healing, guided hikes through ancient woodland, paddleboarding, kayaking, and seasonal foraging for berries and mushrooms across a rich seasonal calendar.

Yoga and meditation classes are organized on request through local instructors, and regular healing rituals including sound bathing ceremonies are available. The broader area adds a unique contemplative dimension: James Turrell’s world-class “Skyspace” land art installation — an internationally recognized work designed to alter the viewer’s perception of light and space — is a short drive away, offering a meditative, near-spiritual experience unlike anything found at conventional wellness destinations.

All experiences are tailored to the individual and designed to unfold at a personal, unhurried pace.

Food

Landet Stay’s culinary philosophy is anchored in local provenance, seasonal integrity, and effortless delivery. The property has partnered with Fina Fisken, one of Trosa’s most celebrated restaurants, for its in-cabin dining service, with meals crafted by Chef Loui from locally sourced ingredients.

Guests choose from ready meals prepared fresh for cabin delivery, elegant three-course dinner experiences, or a chef-on-demand service — all pre-orderable and fully adaptable to dietary requirements including vegan and gluten-free. The menus follow the rhythms of the Swedish seasons and the natural richness of the local food landscape: fresh fish from the nearby Baltic coast, seasonal vegetables from surrounding farm shops, organic produce from artisan delis, and wild ingredients foraged directly from the reserve during berry and mushroom season.

A “Gourmet Staycation” package elevates the culinary experience for guests who wish to make food a central part of their stay. Cooking classes led by a talented local French chef are also available, providing a hands-on connection to regional cuisine and technique. Guests receive curated dining recommendations for the Trosa area upon booking, including farm shops and local producers within a 15-minute radius. All dietary needs are accommodated with care.
