POH: How did your cultural or family background influence your early views on health and wellness?

Gamila : My Father was born in Cairo, Egypt & my Mother in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Both sides of my family and ancestors were heavily rooted in culture, religion &at was t mystics.

POH: Whhe most profound ‘aha’ moment you experienced that changed your perspective on life or your practice?

Gamila: The moment I knew the spiritual path was for me was when I first moved to Los Angeles & remembered the gold star symbol on a blue book my mother always read called Metaphysical Meditations by Paramahansa Yogananda. I had just picked up my paycheck from a production office in the Palisades across the street from The Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine. I asked my mom to look at her book, and the gold star matched the emblem on the meditation booklet she had in her purse. It was a divine blessing and guidance that led us there, and we both walked into an enchanted garden with rose gardens, two beautiful swans in the lake, and a small windmill chapel with photos of Christ and the Saints and Sages of India. It’s at that exact moment I knew that was a confirmation from above, and my mother and I were divinely guided to begin our spiritual journeys.

POH: How do you define healing in your own words? What does it mean to you on a personal level?

Gamila: Over the years, as I have studied, practiced the yogic science & different disciplines and techniques & technologies, I believe 100% that all healing comes from within & a knowing that when you relax and sit still & place your hand on your heart, you can visualize every cell in your body blessed and healed by the divine, the God force that exists within you, by activating the sound current in your voice. The “I am” frequency is incredibly powerful. I teach this in each sound bath experience to everyone in my class. By sitting still & working with our breathing, inhaling peace and harmony and exhaling worry & fear, it balances our body, mind, and spirit & brings us back to our natural state of being happy & healthy.

POH: Can you share a success story from your practice that exemplifies the impact of your work?

Gamila: What I love most about the weekly sound bath experience I offer is the clients & devotees that come to class wanting to relax and unwind. Once we tune in and go through the first set of vocal toning with the “om” vibration and go through the entire sound bath activation, each guest always wakes up feeling like they have gone on a long trip very far away & they always have a story or an explanation of where they were and what colors they saw. I always get angel visitations, so for me, that’s the ultimate compliment that my sound healing offerings are uplifting & relaxing.

POH: What do you hope to achieve through your work in the long term? What legacy would you like to leave behind?

Gamila: All of my sound healing instruments have been blessed by the Shyalpa Rinpoche of Nepal when he was doing a residency in Los Angeles promoting the World Peace Sanctuary, and I had the honor of playing for him. The Rinpoche played my sun gong and confirmed that my playing, along with all the sound healers of the world, are lifting the vibrational frequencies of our planet & realm every time we play. I distribute a poem called “Living Fully” to each guest at the sound bath experience so that meditation and music and prayers will join the collective energy of peace and blessings as part of our legacy.

POH: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned on your path that you believe everyone should know?
Gamila:The most important thing I learned while on my spiritual journey is to work on yourself, and take time to learn what makes you happy and how better to serve others. Taking a course or a teacher training on a spiritual level will feed your soul and enrich your life.

I am so grateful and humbled every time I can teach or help heal a person who genuinely believes.
