Welcome Linus to Placesofhealing.com  – such a pleasure meeting you…

Your Global Kitchen Dance Parties have taken the internet by storm! People adore the joy and ease you bring. How did the idea come to life?

It’s a beautiful surprise. I guess the energy and love for moving my body is what people relate to. I’m not particularly a great dancer that knows lots of different choreographies, but I do love it, and that is what matters.

I don’t dance someone else’s steps in life; instead, I try to follow my heart and intuition. At the same time, the kitchen is the unannounced best dance floor in the house, so it’s a great combo. People know the feeling by heart, so that’s why they are sharing it.

I went to Hyper Island, where energizers are part of the curriculum.Whenever you get stuck in a project, you stand up and play a game or shake your ass to music. It’s such a good tip for bringing the energy back to our bodies—it works every time.

A friend of mine, Steffi, filmed me from the sofa one day doing my morning energizer while making a smoothie, as we do, haha. We posted it, and it got lots of comments and likes. So from that moment, I started something I call #danceforfridays,to remind people to smile more and not take things too seriously. That was 10 years ago, haha.

Are you a professional DJ, or did this passion arise naturally?

In the beginning, I just danced while cooking. My friend and business partner in my production company, Soda/Lime, Tomas, actually bought me a deck, so I naturally learned to mix music. Now I’ve done it for 4–5 years and play at events and festivals around the globe. It was a natural step. I love Afrobeats and Amapiano, so I’m always trying to mix that.

What inspired the very first Boogie & Brunch?

I love being creative and playful, so I started off by inviting people to make their own kitchen dances, and I called it #globalkitchendance. People sent me videos, and I received hundreds, haha. I edited them together and shared it. I couldn’t help smiling while editing that. It was such a beautiful invite to other people’s kitchens and energy. Now, last year, I started to throw live events where I invited people to the kitchen on Ibiza, where I live.

Buenro, a co-living platform with their HQ on Ibiza, gladly hosted the gatherings during spring and summer, and my dear friend Rameet Chawla hosted during the fall. I call them Boogie & Brunch. We’ve had 120 people in the kitchen, and it’s so beautiful to see people bring all their energy to it.

How are the dance parties organized?

Boogie&Brunch is a monthly gathering that brings our beautiful community together in a spirit reminiscent of the joyful celebrations small villages had back in the day. Just as those communities would come together with markets, musicians, and dancing, we too create a space for connection and joy.

Together with Miriam, my co-facilitator (from La Luna retreats), we bring a challenge to the surface. We play with fear and love and want people to learn and feel the experience so they can carry that feeling forward in their everyday life.

Our gathering begins with a Sacral-Chai ceremony, which is mine and Dan Mezheritsky’s aphrodisiac-chai brand. It’s an aphrodisiac chai full of healthy ingredients for the heart and body.

During this time, we reflect on our current challenges and the energies that shape our month.

Following this, we engage in meaningful rituals that transition us into a vibrant dance, guided by Miriam with music mixed by me and sometimes guest artists.

We fill our home with movement and laughter as we dance throughout the kitchen and living room.
In the heart of our gathering, our chef prepares a delicious brunch, infusing it with the spirit of our community and using locally sourced ingredients.

Once we close the circle, we gather around the table to share this nourishing meal, deepening our connections and rejuvenating our spirits for the day ahead. Boogie&Brunch typically takes place on Sundays from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Are these events exclusive to Ibiza, or do you host them globally? Can anyone participate?

We are open to hosting them globally, but from April onward, we do at least one a month for our community. They are private events, and invites are personal, but we always encourage people to reach out and send a message if they’re curious.

In addition to these events, you’re active in so many areas—your production company, Sacral Chai, and your clothing line. How do you manage these commitments?

I feel I have a fully working inner compass, and that takes me in beautiful directions, following what I love. The times where I take a decision too fast, I often feel it directly and try to listen to what my body says. I know I need to sit with a decision for at least 30 minutes before taking it to fully know what I want.

We are rebranding our production company at the moment, packaging 10 years of filming with Soda/Lime where I work as a Director & Cinematographer into a more narrow and niched service – we call is ” smthngelse” – l focus more on impact and how we can create value and make people feel more around the globe through our productions. Through videos & portraits I’m able to show my feelings & sensitivity.

For example, we did a trip recently with our dear friend and musician Eduardo Castillo, where we traveled around Marrakech and met up with local musicians. We met this guy, Muhammed, who lives next to a hammam, basically in a cave-like place, heating it up 24/7.

In between putting logs on the fire, he plays his gumbri, a West African instrument in the genre of Gnawa music. He played for us, and Eduardo ended up inviting Muhammed to play with him at the concert the next day. It’s such a beautiful way of creating direct impact and bringing love forward.
We’re great at capturing moments, and documenting this in a cinematic way is a great example of the types of projects we want to do more of.

I’ve been an ambassador for Ottway, an Australian clothing brand I really love, for a long time, and we decided to create a clothing line together. It’s called Zephyr, and it’s a new thing I’ve never tried, but something that’s giving me lots of energy.

I do feel that translates in everything I do—the balance between fear and love. I challenge myself to feel free, and from there comes a ton of love and energy.

How do you stay grounded amidst everything?

Yes, I do need to take time for myself. Sometimes I’m good at it, and sometimes I’m not. Breathwork I love, even though I don’t have a routine right now.

Honestly, my fastest way to ground myself is to share something I least want to share with the person I least want to share it with. Basically sharing my fears and not thinking I can handle this myself all the time. More or less just stopping in the moment, making myself vulnerable, and sharing what I fear.

Nowadays, I’m more aware if I’m thinking or feeling, so I basically know that if I’m stuck in my head, there is something I’m afraid of that needs to come out. Bringing it to the surface for myself is one thing, but then sharing it with someone while looking them straight in the eyes is where I really grow and where I start standing tall again. It’s like I’m holding a key to this door. It’s unclear and a bit scary what’s on the other side, but being curious about it helps me to make the decision to go through it. On the other side is always freedom and love, and from there, I can go wherever I want in life.

Also, this interview makes me grounded, knowing you are sharing so much love through your platform with the world, so thank you.

Do you have a spiritual practice or life mudra?

I have this mudra friend taught me, where I basically sit and go through what neutrality, gratitude, love, and compassion mean to me, in that order. In low moments, it helps me to remind myself of what really matters and why I should stay true to my path.

Finally, what’s ahead for you in 2025? Are there any exciting new projects or plans in the works? And how can people get involved with Boogie & Brunches?

Lots of Boogie&Brunches in our kitchen in Ibiza and around the globe Beautiful and heart-filled productions with “Smthngelse” . Moments of presence in the water, surfing. Chai-ceremonies with Sacral Chai – Obviously great health for me, my family, and my friends…And just a life full of abundance

Thank you, Linus, for your time. And yes—let’s dance for more healing and love in this world.
