The Rooster is a discreet, design-led retreat on the southern edge of Antiparos, Greece, where raw Cycladic landscape, farmland and sea come together in a quietly powerful setting. With just 17 individual houses and suites, each set in its own garden, the atmosphere is intentionally low-density, private and unhurried. Life here follows natural rhythms: light, wind, soil, sea and silence shape the pace more than schedules do.
More than a hotel, The Rooster functions as an integrated retreat. Land, architecture, food, wellness and ritual are treated as one ecosystem rather than separate amenities.
At the heart of the experience is the House of Healing, a dedicated wellness sanctuary offering deeply personalized treatments based on in-depth consultations. Guests are not rushed from appointment to appointment; instead, therapies, movement, rest and nature are woven into a gentle flow that allows each person to find their own pace.
The Rooster attracts travelers who are less interested in spectacle and more drawn to depth: people seeking rest, emotional clarity, physical renewal and a reconnection to something elemental.
The Rooster’s wellness philosophy is housed in its dedicated spa, the House of Healing, where treatments are always guided by an in-depth personal consultation. Each guest begins with a conversation that explores sleep, digestion, stress, hormonal balance, injuries, emotional patterns and lifestyle habits. From there, therapists design a tailor-made path rather than offering generic spa menus.
Treatments draw from global healing traditions. Offerings include Tibetan Ku Nye massage, Ayurvedic therapies like Abhyangam, Shirodhara and Takradhara, Japanese Kobido facial techniques, Reiki, sound healing, Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage, Ashiatsu barefoot massage, fire cupping and CBD-based bodywork. Signature rituals such as the Smoking Stool ceremony focus on energetic cleansing, using Greek herbs, smoke, breathwork, oracle cards and sound to release emotional and energetic blockages.
Movement and mindfulness are woven into daily life. Complimentary yoga is offered each morning in an outdoor pavilion, with styles including Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Restorative and Somatic Flow. Pilates, meditation, breathwork and sound healing sessions support both physical strength and nervous-system regulation. Guests can also join tea ceremonies that explore stillness, simplicity and elemental awareness.
There are offerings for children as well, including kids’ yoga, dance and playful movement sessions, allowing families to share a wellness rhythm together.
The House of Healing also features a steam room and pool, enhancing detoxification and relaxation. Phones are turned off, smoking is not permitted, and silence is respected as a luxury. Wellness at The Rooster is not about intensity, but about depth—slow, intuitive, personalized and rooted in both ancient traditions and modern understanding of body, mind and energy.
Food at The Rooster is inseparable from the land that surrounds it. The property sits within active farmland, and much of what appears on the table begins just steps away in on-site vegetable gardens, herb beds and cultivated fields. Menus are shaped by seasonality, availability and freshness rather than rigid recipes, allowing ingredients to lead the creative process.
The culinary approach is simple, clean and intentional. Preparation focuses on preserving the integrity of each ingredient—letting vegetables, herbs, grains and locally sourced proteins speak for themselves. Dishes are designed to support wellbeing, digestion and energy, aligning naturally with the retreat’s broader wellness philosophy.
Guests with specific dietary needs are well supported. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and tailored nutritional programs can be accommodated, especially for those participating in wellness programs or therapeutic journeys.
Occasionally, culinary workshops or shared food experiences invite guests deeper into the relationship between land, season and plate.
At The Rooster, nourishment is not flashy or performative. It is grounded, seasonal and sincere, supporting both physical health and a deeper sense of connection to land, body and daily life.
Location
The Rooster is located on the southern edge of Antiparos, a small Cycladic island just off the coast of Paros in Greece. Unlike busier Greek islands, it retains a sense of simplicity and authenticity, making it ideal for travelers seeking rest rather than nightlife.
To reach The Rooster, travelers typically fly into Athens International Airport. From Athens, there are two main options:
- Fly from Athens to Paros (about 40 minutes). From Paros airport, it is a short drive to the port of Pounta, where a small ferry crosses to Antiparos in about 7 minutes. From Antiparos port, The Rooster is about a 15-minute drive.
- Travel by ferry from Athens (Piraeus port) to Paros, which takes approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on the ferry type. From Paros, continue by car to Pounta and cross to Antiparos by ferry.
Once on Antiparos, a car or arranged transfer is recommended, as the property sits in a rural area surrounded by farmland and open land rather than in the village center.
